M, Belgharbi A reading of the reality and challenges of the Algerian food industries for food security

Abstract

With the beginning of the third millennium and in light of the wave of sharp rise in food prices at the global level as a result of the resulting global health crisis, as well as the war between Russia and Ukraine and the resulting difficulties in obtaining food. Algeria faces an important issue of food security. In this context, those in charge of the Algerian economy are betting on the food industry to achieve food security.This study comes to analyze the reality of the food industries in Algeria during the period (2010-2021) and the challenges they face in order to achieve food security. It has been concluded that the food industries in Algeria have a marginal role due to the weakness of the agricultural policy and the absence of good industrial practices.
