Abstract

Through this study, we aim to reveal the specificity of women’s writing in the novel “Embers and Water” by the Tunisian writer, Amna Al-Rumaili. This novel came in an alternating narrative style, through five female characters, who shared the act of telling, and narrative authority was distributed among them, and they contributed to weaving the main threads of the story. In addition to the narrator who was unable to silence her voice and maintain her usual calm as she announced her presence in the introduction and end of the novel to bring together the various stories, and to complete the features of the painting and paint its general scene, which led to a departure from the conventions of traditional narrative writing based on monophonic voice entering Bakhtinian polyphonic writing. Thus, the presence of women in the narrative text penetrated various forms of authority, both written and social.

In this study, we seek to reveal some of the feminine features that characterize the novel
