Abstract

     The issue of context occupied a wide interest in Linguistics in the past and at present since it is an important closely related element to language and an inevitable part in creating the meaning. Accordingly, ancient Arabic rhetoric was very interested in context, and considered it a major pole in ancient Arabic linguistic heritage. Also, modern Arabic linguistics paid attention to it as one of the prominent studies in Semantics

Thus, this study aims at examining the issue of context for Tammam Hassan in modern Arabic Linguistics through his book “The Arabic Language: Meaning and Structure”, relying on descriptive-analytical approach to identify the context in modern Linguistics and how did he treat it in his book
