Abstract

Literary reading at university is in decline in Algeria in the recent years. Despite the fact of it being a source of pleasure and edification, this work aims to measure the extent of disinterest for reading. In Fact, students barely or never read any literature apart from the texts given in the class. Thus. We have submitted a questionnaire to a group of students, in order to understand this lack of interest for literature and the different reasons that dissuaded the current students of language and especially of French literature from reading the novels linked to the sought-after skills. We have also proposed few applicable solutions to encourage students to read more and to read even better
